Punjab is land of five rivers in North West India and North East Pakistan. Punj means five and aab means water, so punjab means five waters. These five rivers that run through punjab, having their originating source as various small lakes in Himalayas. If one were to go across the Punjab starting from Delhi and to Afghanistan, the rivers are in this order. Beus, Satluj, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum. Beus, and Satluj merge into one river retaining the name Satluj at Harike near Ferozepur in Punjab just before crossing the border into west Punjab (Pakistan) and eventually merging into river Indus. Area of Punjab that is between rivers of Beus and Satluj is called Doaba, major …

If your days were numbered, would you live your life differently?. News Source: http://www.kansascity.com Kerry and Chris Shook, authors of One Month to Live, challenge readers to live the next 30 days as if they were their last in order to experience life to the full. You have one month to live. Surely you’d want to get the most out of your remaining days. You’d want to live passionately, purposefully, the way we were created to live. That is the premise of a new book called One Month to Live by Kerry and Chris Shook (WaterBrook Press, $19.99). “By embracing the fact that our time on earth is limited, we can live deliberately,…

I was hoping that some of you could shed some light on the following situation that I find myself in.........I began my journey towards our Guru sometime ago. I regularly do nitnem and have been thinking seriously about taking Amrit. The problem is that I work shiftwork which includes 2 sets of nightshift. I work 7 days of 5pm to 3am and then after a few days off another 7 days of 11pm to 7am. I am a police officer and don't get the luxury of a lunch hour where I could do my morning nitnem and there is little downtime during the night. I would really appreciate some educated responses that will point me in the right direction. WJKK WJKF.

Capacity to Give and Take January 23rd, 2008 Post a Comment » Here is a quote that I typed up a week or so when I was watching the video that I posted earlier about the mind. I thought it was very relevant and worth sharing, since most of us don’t always relate to giving, and what the reasons are that we do this as Sikhs. "You cannot give to anybody if you do not have it. You cannot give anybody satisfaction if you don’t have it. If there is a glass; Suppose this glass has nothing in it. It can’t give anything. All it can give me is it’s glasshood. But if this glass has water, then it can give itself to me with water, which I can take. You all want to take everythin…

This is a great mail on ATTITUDE & its importance... Check it out!! An old man lived alone in a village. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation: Dear Son, I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden, because your mother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren't in prison. Love, …

Nothing as sweet as Gurbani. Gurbani is full of love, nimrata and amrit. ਆਪੇ ਕਾਸਟ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਾਸਟ ਅਗਨਿ ਰਖਾਇਆ ॥ aapae kaasatt aap har piaaraa vich kaasatt agan rakhaaeiaa || The Beloved Lord Himself is the firewood, and He Himself keeps the fire within the wood. ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਭੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥ aapae hee aap varathadhaa piaaraa bhai agan n sakai jalaaeiaa || The Beloved Lord Himself, all by Himself, permeates them, and because of the Fear of God, the fire cannot burn the wood. ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਦੇ ਸਭਿ ਲਵਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ aapae maar jeevaaeidhaa piaaraa saah laidhae sabh lavaaeiaa ||3|| The Beloved Himself kills and revives; all draw…
