Lalo and Bhago On one of his journeys, Guru Nanak stayed with a carpenter in a place called Emnabad. The carpenter's name was Lalo. A local wealthy man named Bhago decided to give a feast and invited all around, including Guru Nanak. However, the Guru did not attend; when asked why, Nanak replied he would rather eat the carpenter's bread because it had been earned by honest work, whereas Bhago's great feast had been the result of exploitation of the poor. Nanak said that the bread had been stained by the blood of the poor. When Bhago protested, Guru Nanak took a piece of Lalo's bread and a piece of Bhago's bread and suqeezed them both. Milk dripped from Lalo's bread, whi…

Gurfateh-- a collection of thoughts. He gives me bountiful amounts of love He gives me immense kisses of embrace For eternity has he blessed me with the support of his name I've wandered boundlessly in and around the bare trees of sorrow Has thy mother of birth come to search for thee soul? Has thy father of birth come to search for thee soul? Has anyone come to reach out for thee filthy hand? I sat alone under the perch bark tree, sliding thee hand over the leaf of grace "Where have you gone?" I whisper under my cold breath "No where" His light appeared from beneath the leaf of grace "Why haven't I seen thee light before thy heart sank into the ocean of dis…

Mysterium, Tremendum et Fascinans of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Vision One of the world’s greatest philosopher and theologian, William James quoted that for a religion to take root and be successful it requires a religious experience where it undergoes three main factors; Mysterium, Tremendum et Fascinans. In Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev Ji received his call from the almighty via a vision where all criteria of James’ theory. Mysticism, marvel and fascination. Guru Nanak Dev Ji had a sublime vision of God while bathing in a river for 3 days, in his vision of God he realised that there is only one God and that God did not have any physical attributes. Hence in the first verse of Gu…

You must be able to perceive grace Even when His divine anger lashes you, And think of Him always with serenity, And always, whatever happens, cling to Him With all you heart and all your soul. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Your love has made me dance to a fast beat! Your love has taken abode within my heart! This cup of poison I drank all by myself. Come, come, O physician, or else I breathe my last! Your love has made me dance to a fast beat! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled. There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled. You feel it, don't you? You feel the separation from the Beloved. Invit…

Take time to live Harvey Mackay Benjamin Franklin said, "If we take care of the minutes, the years will take care of themselves." One minute. It doesn't seem like much. However, never underestimate the cumulative effect of each minute we live. Suppose, for example, a minute is worth one penny. You spot a penny lying on the street but pass it by because it's hardly worth the effort of leaning over to pick it up. But suppose you began to double that penny each day for a month. At the end of a week, you would only have 64 pennies. That's not much maybe, but at the end of a month you would have 536,870,912 pennies. Translated into dollars, that's $5,368,709.12. But it's…
