Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, This incident took place in 1510 (during Guru Nanak Sahib jis first preaching odyssey - Udasi) . A Brahmin named 'Kalyug' had made his abode there. He was a learned man beside being very rich. Many pilgrims were his followers and often stayed in his Dera (Camp). This Pandit was swindling the gullible people who were not aware of what the true religion was. Many rich persons who visited him were more interested in knowing about their future life or the life hereafter. They would feel happy listening to good and favourable stories about themselves. Pleased with such fables, they would make handsome offerings to him. In Jagann…

He almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help. So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out. His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her. Even with the smile on his face, she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so .. was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe; he looked poor and hungry. He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold. He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fear can put in you. He said, "I'm here to help you, ma'am. Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm? By the way, my name is Bryan…

Bhai Mansha Singh jee was one of the best kirtaniya in Siri Harmandir Sahib jee during the time of Raja Ranjit Singh. At that time Giani Sant Singh jee was the Head Granthi of Siri Harmandir Sahib and at the same time he was the top administrator of Siri Amritsar Sahib. Once Raja Ranjit Singh jee came to Siri Amritsar Sahib and after darshan of Siri Darbar Sahib, he went to see Giani Sant Singh jee. As they were talking casually, Raja Ranjit Singh asked Giani jee if everything was okay at Siri Amritsar Sahib. At this Giani jee thought of Bhai Mansha Singh jee who was very poor financially. Bhai Sahib jee was a singh of high spiritual state and stayed intoxicated in Naa…

BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD Sardar Partaap Singh jee was born on September 21, 1898, in district Gurjraanwala in present day Pakistan. His father's name was Sardar Saroop Singh and mother's name was Bibi Prem Kaur. He was brought up in pure Gurmat atmosphere as both his parents were gursikhs. From early age, his outlook was very different. Not that we believe in going to pandits but many astrologers and sants who saw him predicted that this child will grow up to be a king, bhagat or someone great. When ever Bhai Sahib saw any opportunity to do sewa or if there was ever talk of independence movement, he would jump to do sewa. JOB AND MARRIAGE When he passed his 10th grade, h…

Friday, September 28, 2007 Rain, Rain, Rain Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Once, Sant Baba Attar Singh Ji visited Kohat, in the Northwest Frontier Province, on an invitation from the Sangat there. Upon Sant Ji’s arrival two Sikhs came to the railway station to receive him. From the railway station the Sikhs and Sant Ji took a tonga to go to the city. On the way to the city a few Pathans caught sight of Sant Ji. After studying the glow around his face and looking at his simple attire they assumed that he must be a messenger of Akaal Purakh. The Pathans began to run after the tonga until they managed to get it to stop. When the tonga stopped the Pathans in …

I personally love and recite the Taksali version of Sodar Rehras Sahib. However, I have come across the fact that the tuks like "Ram katha jug jug atal", and "Bishan bhagat ki eh phal hoi, aadh byaadh shwai sakai na koi" are questioned. Could someone please elaborate on these tuks, and maybe some more from Dasam Bani that are a part of Sodar Rehras Sahib. All I need is a proper understanding of these tuks from Dasam Bani. I am NOT saying here that one version of Rehraas is "smaller" or "longer", just want to learn about these tuks more. Thanks

http://www.babanandsinghsahib.org/virtues/...nevercursed.htm Never cursed Babaji never cursed anybody in His whole life. Never did a word of ill will or of condemnation of anyone pass through His holy lips. Brahm Giani Ki Sab Ooper Maiya Brahm Giani Te Kuchh Bura Na Bhaiya ~Sri Guru Granth Sahib (272) From a true Brahm Giani, Mercy (compassion) flows to all alike. No harm whatsoever can come from a Brahm Giani. On the contrary, He even blessed those who talked ill of Him. He even once said, "If by going to a Saint or a Maha Purush, one is only to be cursed, then what is the difference between a Saint and a butcher." Once Baba Rattan Singh Ji happened to m…

The God of Love

The God of Love One day, God knocked on my door and he said He wanted to be my lover. I asked “why?” “Because I love you so much.’’ He said and gave me a smile that reached my heart. From that moment onwards, God began to court me. Each morning He gave me beautiful brilliant sunrises and each night he gave me a million stars to wish upon. He gave me rains that refreshed and cooled and winds that soothed and sang. Each day without fail He supplied me with at least 86,400 heartbeats and a maximum of 28,800 breaths. Once, I spoke to a friend about him and my friend said that God died for me 2000 years ago and I hadn’t even been born yet. This sincere show of love an…

THIS IS CARE OF HARPREET SINGH VEERJI, ON AKJ.ORG.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Chains of Belief - Author Unknown As I was passing the elephants, I suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. I saw a trainer near by and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. "Well," he said, "when they are very…

http://www.sikhspectrum.com/102002/mission.htm SikhSpectrum.com Monthly Issue No.5, October 2002 The Mission of Guru Nanak : A Muslim Appraisal by Professor Mushirul Haq Copyright © Professor Mushirul Haq Looking back to the days of my childhood I still remember that I had no chance of seeing a Sikh because there was none in my village in the eastern part of U.P., far away from the Punjab. We were only told that Sikhs were different from the Muslims in their religious beliefs. The prototype image of a Sikh in our plain mind was somewhat similar to that of Tagore's Kabuliwalla. Sikhs were believed to b…
