ok so, my family goes to nanaksar alot and i youst to before learning about what the packhandi babas do there..i have a question, ive been told by alot of my family that baba nand singh ji got a artist to come and he described guru nanak dev ji maharaj to the artist and told him to paint it, but i find this very wierd because if guru sahib gives you darshan isnt it wrong to show everyone else, because if maharaj wanted to show everyone else wudnt he give them darshan...lol i know thats very confusing also on the picture that they claim is drawn to the description that baba nand singh ji gave on the foot of guru maharaj they show a star, and iv never understood why maharaj…

Dear All I am trying express my thouhgt which I have learnt from Gurughar and my home. I want you comment on my blog. As much I read about Shree Guru Nanak Dev and Sikhism and I founded that Sikhism is not a religion it is path (simplest, shortest to reach the superpower). Shree Guruu Gobind Singh also expressed this thing and we all chant this everyday in our Ardaas to superpower (Agya Bhai Akaal Ki Tabhe Chaleo Panth Sab Sikhan ko Hukam Hai Guru Manyo Granth) Guru Sahib again pointing to panth not a religion panth means path a way. Now we have another question which reigion we belong, We all belong to religion which Guru Nan…

Dhan dhan saadh sangat jeo, My husband and me visit the gurudwara in our vicinity almost daily. A couple of days ago, on some errand, my husband had to return to the gurudwara. Though the sukhras had been completed, he saw the ragees drinking liquer in front of the gurudwara. He felt very awkward and has since been telling me to walk up to the ragees and tell them that this has a negative impact on the sangat that goes to the gurudwara to learn something from the Guru - Guru Granth Saahib. However, I am not sure how to approach them and what should i say..

During the partition of India and Pakistan, in a remote village near the border in the Western Punjab (Pakistan side), there were few Sikh families who used to go to the local Gurudwara where the head Granthee jee always preached the Guru's word. One night when the riots started, everyone gathered in the Gurudwara. They started asking the Granthee jee if Guru is going to come and rescue them from this. Granthee jee went in front of the Guru Granth Sahib jee and did the Ardaas. "Hey Sache Patshah, I have always lived by your word. I have always belived and taught everyone Gur Mere Sang Sadda hai Naale. Hey mere Sahib, the time is here where everyone is looking at me and as…

One afternoon Guru Nanak and his company were resting on the banks of the Ganges at Patna. Mardana was idly inspecting a stone he had picked up along the road, thinking of the vast throngs who had come to hear the Guru. "Master," said Mardana, "you teach a way for every person to find liberation. But many of those who listen still seem to spend much of their time in conflict, and in seeking out excitement and other idle pursuits. Why do they waste away their lives so?" "Most people don't recognize its value," replied the Guru, "although human life is the dearest treasure on this earth." "Surely everyone can see the value of life," said Mardana. "No," said Nanak. "Ea…

Hello, I am currently researching the 'history and development of the Gurmukhi script' for my dissertation, which will be submitted in partial fulfillment for my postgraduate degree, and I was wondering if I could as a few questions ... - What digital fonts do you currently use (most often)? - How long have you used these for? - Is there a particular preference for these over others? - Do they supply enough characters, or are there others you would like to see/be able to utilise? - Is there anything in particular that you dislike about Gurmukhi fonts: - when using them: eg. technical issues? - the design of them: eg. incorrect character representation? -…

Once Ahmad Shah Abdali and Zakariya Khan were talking. Abdali was an afghan invader and Zakariya Khan was, the governor of Punjab. Abdali : I was attacked by some people in your kingdom! Zakariya : Huh!? ... No sir, they can't be my people! Abdali : Then? Zakariya : Sir, they must be Singhs. Abdali : Singhs? who are these Singhs? Zakariya : Sir, I can't show you a real one, but we have actors, who can perform and show you what they look and act like. Abdali : Ok, thats fine. Show me. I'm very curious. Zakariya arranged for some actors, the leader of the group was an old man. They were asked to show a drama depicting Singhs. Zakariya : So you are going to act like…
